GÉRARD LEGRAND

Gérard Legrand, born in Paris in 1927 and died in 1999, was a French surrealist poet, philosopher, essayist and film critic. In December 1948, Gérard Legrand met André Breton of whom he became one of the closest collaborators. With the latter, he signed L'Art magique, published in 1957. In 1960, he presented the collection Poésie et autres by Breton. He directed the journal Bief from 1958 to 1960. He was among the signatories of the Manifesto of 121, entitled "Declaration on the right to insubordination in the Algerian war" and published in September 1960.
