"Roger Caillois, 'mental compass' of surrealism", in: Roger Caillois, adventurous thought, under the direction of Laurent Jenny. Paris, Belin, 1992, pp. 15-31.

The personality and exact role of Roger Caillois (1913-1978) in French philosophy and sociology needed to be clarified fifteen years after his disappearance. Professor at the University of Geneva, Laurent Jenny took the initiative to organize a colloquium at the Sorbonne to deal with it. The proceedings were published a year later by a school publisher. For my part, I had to evoke Caillois's presence within the surrealist movement. Not only in his relations with André Breton but also with the others, since he was one of the initiators of the journal Inquisitions.
