"AUTHOR DICTIONARIES. FROM BRICK TO CD-ROM", STUDIES IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS, NO. 85-86, JANUARY-JUNE 1992, PP. 123-130.

This issue of the journal Studies in Applied Linguistics, founded by Bernard Quemada, constitutes the tribute of his disciples and friends at the time of his retirement.
Having appointed me head of URL5 Contemporary Literary Lexicology and Terminology, within the INaLF (National Institute of the French Language), which he directed, and having thus attributed to me the quality of Research Director at the CNRS, I owed it to him to dedicate an article to him.
I could have written a study taking into account his Spanish origin, since his surname means burn or burned, and speak of the two mountain cities that name us, him and me. But it was better not to stray too far from the whole of the contributions that dealt with the two sciences he had developed, lexicology and dictionary-making, his passions.
That is why I dedicated this article to him on author dictionaries and their future in the form of a CD-ROM. I had previously benefited from a private demonstration of the tool on which international manufacturers had agreed. In addition, I had the advantage of testing my proposal before an informed audience at the University of Lille III, during the international colloquium of September 1991 Dictionaries and Literature – Literature and Dictionaries, organized by P. Corbin, J.-P. Guillerm. However, the Proceedings of this colloquium seemed never to be published.
I specify that there is no agreement error in the title, since the dictionaries mentioned deal with only one author.
A few years later, the organizers of the Lille colloquium found the means to devote an important volume to the remarks made under the impulse of the URA 382 "SILEX" of the CNRS and the Center for Analysis and Criticism of Texts of Charles de Gaulle University.
My intervention therefore appeared, identical, after the tribute to Bernard Quemada. It is thus recorded:
