"The Novel as Philosophical Brothel", Faites entrer l'infini, n° 3, March 1987, p. 7. [about La Défense de l'infini]
I frequently met Charles Dozynski (1929-2014) at the Europe Journal Committee. He had contributed to the founding of the biannual journal Faites entrer l'infini, in the form of a journal dedicated to the memory of Elsa Triolet and Aragon (who died, let us recall, on December 24, 1982). As President of the University Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle, I had to deliver a notable speech about the deceased as early as January 1983. So Charles was pressing me to entrust him with an article for this journal. I took advantage of the publication by Gallimard editions of the reconstruction of the novel Faites entrer l'infini to give him this review, which he had beautifully laid out, and which I reproduce as is. I add that rereading it so many years later, I have nothing to change.
