Les fabuleuses

MÉLUSINE is the ideal patroness for a surrealist journal. She reminds us that Jarry honored Mélusine in L'Amour absolu, and that Breton... Of course, Mélusine is L'Amour fou. Thus baptized, these "Cahiers" exist strongly: volumes of three to four hundred pages. The latest one deals with surrealist books and journals. But it is quite different from a technical, typographic and plastic presentation: a search for the spirit of these books and of surrealism itself. For example: "Love and eroticism". Arturo Schwarz immediately quotes Breton: "It is certain that carnal love is one with spiritual love." With drawings by Desnos, illustrations by Man Ray, André Masson, Tanguy, de Chirico, Dali, Miró. (Cahiers du Centre de recherche sur le surréalisme, directed by Henri Béhar. Édit. L'Age d'Homme).
