WELCOME

Henri Béhar is one of the main promoters of computer-assisted lexical studies. He founded and directed the Hubert de Phalèse Research Center, a research team designed to promote computer-assisted literary studies, and devoted a work to his quantitative linguistics research, Literature and its Golem (1996). In the cultural domain, he has emphasized the importance of contextualizing literary texts; his Cultures of Jarry (1988) allow us to read this author's work in the light of the heterogeneous cultures he summons in his writings. A specialist in avant-gardes, Henri Béhar has provided historical, textual, or genetic studies on Dada or Breton.

He has also founded and directs the Surrealism Research Center, which coordinates work on this subject. Alongside his research activities, Henri Béhar introduced computer science into university courses by creating a literary history database usable by students.
