MAX WALTER SVANBERG

Max Walter Svanberg began technical studies in applied arts in 1929 then joined an art school in 1931. He exhibited his first works in 1935. Around 1940, he became increasingly attracted to Surrealism and became an active member of the Minotaur group, which he founded with E. Nemes, A. Yunkers and C.O. Hultén, and the Imaginists, a group founded in Malmö in 1943 and from which he detached himself ten years later. In 1959, M.W. Svanberg, alone, represented Sweden at the international Surrealism exhibition organized by Breton at the Cordier gallery.
